I’ve been exploring Southwest Michigan’s Harbor Country and has made it my go-to place when I need to a short getaway. The area covers Michiana, Grand Beach, New Buffalo, Union Pier, Lakeside, Harbert, Sawyer and Three Oaks. It’s a quick one-hour drive from my house and offers great views of Lake Michigan as well as excellent antiquing.
There are several antique stores along the Red Arrow Highway but two of my favorite spots are the Harbert Antique Mall and Millie’s Antiques.
The Harbert Antique Mall has over 50 dealers and offers a myriad of treasures. I’ve purchased a few vintage postcards and a beautiful pin there. They also have a few pairs of wooden candlestick holders that catch my eye each time I shop there.
Just a little north of the Harbert Antique Mall is Millie’s Antiques. If you love vintage kitchen accessories, dishes and cookware, this is the shop for you! There are so many great finds here, including a small collection of Dutch decor like wooden shoes, figurines and Delft blue. The store owner hand picks all of the items and has created quite a collection. Some of my treasures from this store include a cute Candleglow custard bowl as well as a Blue Heaven platter and cake dish.
The prices at both of these stores are very reasonable and I have always been pleased with the treasures I find there. Can’t wait for my next trip to the area!
